Project origins


Hi there!

This is the first of a series of devlogs that I would like to publish about the development and progress of the project. I would like to make regular publications but I don’t promise anything, you know that this project is being developed only by me in my spare time... I hope you understand it.

So, here I go!

In this first article I want to talk about the origin of this project. The idea came thanks to Vampire: The Masquerade Jam hosted by World of Darkness to celebrate the finale of Month of Darkness 2021. As a fan of these saga I could not miss the opportunity to create something and participate in this unique event. But unfortunately I could not finish on time because I could not devote all the time I wanted to the project.

But after a few months an unexpected surprise came from Paradox Interactive through World of Darkness... the announcement of the Unbound program. Summarizing, the program allows independent game developers to make and monetize their games based on Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition (with some limitations of course).

This news was a gift... It was clear that I was going to continue my project... but many things changed. Having more time for development, I rewrote the script and now it has a story with many more layers (sometimes I think too many, hahaha).

So… what's next? Well, this is a non-commercial fan-project and the development itself has just begun, my next goal is to publish a small demo asap but I don't have definitive dates since it depends on many things, although the main one is my "real job" and the overload that this can cause me. There will be times when I can dedicate more time to the project and others less, but my intention is to maintain a stable development in order to finish the project in a reasonable time.
